About You:

Boundless is looking for a self-motivated, top-notch training specialist to join our growing open-source GIS team. Client training is an integral part of building the world's best geospatial ecosystem and helping customers to gain expertise with knowledge direct from Boundless. As a Training Specialist for Server, you’ll be tasked with developing and delivering instructional material for online and instructor-led courses for Boundless Suite products. This role will report to the Director of Training.


What we need you to do:

  • Engineer tools and frameworks for the efficient generation and delivery of long form instructor-led courses.
  • Develop entry and advanced level learning materials for both internal and external audiences for online, virtual, and classroom delivery.
  • Serve as an integral part of our education team in determining the needs of the training audiences and appropriate methods of self-paced, direct, and virtual delivery.
  • Travel to our clients and train them on-site, as well as in our local offices.
  • When not actively training, you will assist with the content development, editing, and updating training materials to reflect the fast-changing world of geospatial software development.
  • Work with a small but growing team of trainers and content developers.
  • Demonstrate effective needs analysis, project management, instructional design, training delivery, and learning evaluation skills.


Skills need to excel

  • 2 years hands on experience teaching, training and building training materials.
  • Outgoing professional who loves a good challenge and is passionate about helping make difficult technical concepts understandable.
  • Expert with Boundless Suite and its open source project components (GeoServer, PostGIS, GeoWebCache, and OpenLayers).
  • Track record of helping people succeed in their technical challenges, and you are comfortable flying solo in a room with technical people of all skill levels.
  • High level experience with geospatial software, particularly open source geospatial software such as GeoServer, PostGIS, GeoWebCache, and OpenLayers.
  • Ability to travel to Boundless clients and train them on-site, as well as in local Boundless offices.
  • Ability to plan, write, and edit original content for Boundless Suite products. Training materials include training content, lab exercises, presentations, videos, and accompanying materials.
  • Exposure to the open GIS community.
  • Experience with the lifecycle software development process.
