Boundless seeks a Scrum Master to manage and evolve Agile software development practices across multiple teams. This is a high-visibility role that collaborates daily with product owners to effectively manage story backlogs, plan releases, run effective daily meetings, ensure best practices are followed and track activity for reporting and communicating status to the company and other stakeholders.

Scrum Master Responsibilities

  • Leads scrum practice across one or more remote teams
  • Works directly with product manager to ensure backlog is groomed and prioritized
  • Communicates and plans priorities effectively with software development teams
  • Establishes and maintains key metrics indicating project health, status, delivery, and risk
  • Keeps Scrum process running
  • Provide support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example.
  • Develop and foster an “agile culture” on teams
  • Collaborate with other scrum masters to develop consistencies and best practices across all teams
  • Guide teams and remove impediments
  • Build a trusting and safe environment
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Encourage and help to achieve transparency
  • Develop high-performance teams
  • Ensure best practices are followed, including product planning, retrospectives, show-and-tell, continuous integration, and so forth
  • Assist and ensure stories are written thoroughly and properly to demonstrate end-user value for each sprint
  • Encourage and protect team self-organization principles
  • Advocate for the team to ensure estimates are respected
  • Coordinate and integrate QA into the agile cycle
  • Effectively manage scope at both sprint and release levels

You Offer

  • Excitement and ambition to spread the good news of open source geospatial to organizations around the world
  • 5+ years of experience leading Agile teams using Scrum or Kanban practices
  • Experience or willingness to lead remote, distributed teams
  • 3+ years of experience managing successful multi-function technical teams
  • Understanding of and appreciation for open source software development, both methods and strategies
  • Ability to coach stakeholders and team members of effective story-writing practices
  • Demonstrated ability to turn business objectives into product requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to bring together a variety of people and skills to solve hard problems
  • Strong opinions when warranted, and the ability to back them up with data, data, data.
  • Commitment to the phrase ‘you are what you measure’ and a dedication to measuring ‘the right things.’
