Boundless is looking for a Python developer to develop plugins and third party services for Boundless Desktop.

About You

You're a Python perfectionist. You love open source and have experience contributing to projects with community governed development.  Hopefully, you've gotten your hands dirty with QGIS.

About the Job

In this role you’ll be developing plugins as well as contributing enhancements, bug fixes and new features and plugins for our Desktop applications. As part of the development process you'll not only develop, but also plan, test, document and support your work - addressing bug requests (not that your code would ever have bugs....)

You'll fulfill customer, community and company driven development goals, working with other team members and other teams to make the best open source GIS platform around.


  • Knowledge of Python 2- (experience with Python 3 a plus!
  • Familiarity with git and standard git/GitHub workflows
  • Experience with Python unit testing framework and other external testing tools
  • Experience with the most common GIS-related libraries and using them from Python (GDAL/OGR, etc)
  • Basic knowledge of REST services and using web APIs programmatically from Python
  • Experience in QGIS Python programming and the QGIS API
  • Familiar with agile processes and comfortable working in an internationally distributed, remote team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, but the more languages the better


The ideal candidate also offers:

  • Existing QGIS community member and committer
  • Working knowledge of Arc products (ArcMap, ArcSDE, etc)
  • Experience developing against GeoServer, PostGIS, OpenLayers, GeoNode, GeoGig and other open source GIS software
